Rodney Eugene Harris born in Columbus Ohio, April 4, 1965 to Eugene Harris and Shirlee Harris.
Known affectionately to family and friends as "Rod" and "Shifu".
He attended Eastmoor High School and graduated from Northland High School.
He was employed with the Department of Corrections and several telecommunication companies.
He had a passion for history and his guitar.
His love for martial arts led him to obtain a 5th degree Certification in Kung Fu giving him his master rank.
He was a US Navy Veteran who served from 1983-1989 on USS Downs and USS Copeland as a electrician. He received several commendations and ribbons, with a honorable discharge for his time.
Rod had great love for God, for his family, for his country, and for helping people.
He was with the love of his life Netta for over 13 years.
He would always tell people he traveled around the world to walk across the street to find his soulmate.
He was proceeded in death by father, Eugene Harris, sister, Patrice Darcel Harris, grandmother Carrie Graves, grandfather John F. Graves, great aunt Mary King.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ninette Harris, mother Shirlee Harris Brant, daughters; Seava Harris, Leija Harris, Asha Harris, Step-Daughters; Teleya Hinkle, Alani Hinkle, Sisters; Vicki Harris, Stacy Harris, Brother Anthony Harris, Uncle Oscar Ramey Jr. wife (Brenda), Aunts; Odella T. Welch, and Angela F. Ford, and a host of cousins, relatives, friends; Christy Lee, Barbara Madry, Raymond Henry, Duke Black, Philip Sessley and many more specials friends too many to name.
Funeral service will be Friday, December 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, with visitation one hour prior to services.
