Roger Lee Baer was born in Goshen, Indiana on December 10, 1946 the son of the late John E. Baer and Mary M. Baer. He passed on May 13, 2021.
Roger was a graduate of Goshen High School Class of 1965. He joined the US Army in 1966, fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded the following medals: Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in ground operations against hostile forces during the period of October 1967 to October 1968, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign. He was awarded two Overseas Service Bars and was an expert with the M-14 rifle. He attained the rank of Sergeant and earned an honorable discharge in 1972.
After his military service, Roger attended and graduated from Ashland College in 1982 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Roger was employed by Marion Power and Shovel Company in Marion, Ohio before moving to Columbus, Ohio. In Columbus Roger retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of dedicated service.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patricia (Adams) Baer of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Shannon Coleman of Canal Winchester, Ohio; brother, Allen Baer of Yuma, Arizona; sister, Beverly (Larry) Baker of South Bend, Indiana; three grandchildren; Christian Coleman, Kourtney Coleman, and Caleb Woods; great-grandchild, Kori Harvison-Coleman; nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Memorial Gathering Wednesday, May 26, 2021 starting at 1pm and concluding with military honors at 3pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.
