Listen to Obituary

Roger Wayne Clark, a loving father suddenly passed away in his home on March 17th, 2026. Although Roger didn't attend Church regularly, his faith shone through his time listening and getting into God’s word. His relationship with Jesus was evident. Born to Mary Frances Martin Clark and Robert Willis Clark Sr, on September 25th, 1967, in San Antonio Texas, Roger’s life was a testament of his kindness for others, dedication for his family, and even his stubbornness, a trait that reflected his deep care and determination.

Roger attended Westbury High School before moving to Sweetwater, Texas, where he graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1986. He spent much of his adult life in Houston, with time also spent in Arkansas choosing each place to remain close to family. He remained in Columbus through the end of his life to be with his son, Matthew Clark.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh from an early age. Roger loved music and taught himself to play the piano and guitar, often playing by ear. He enjoyed sports, swimming, and lived with a strong sense of adventure throughout his life. Roger was especially known for his love of pool, where he built lasting friendships and competed in tournaments, including multiple trips to Las Vegas. More than the game itself, he valued the relationships he formed and the impact others had on his life. In his work, Roger showed his kindness and dedication, always striving to take care of others. He had a natural talent for fixing things, especially in maintenance and construction, and was known for approaching any problem with a plan and a notebook ready in hand. Above all, he sought out ways to serve others.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Willis Clark, Sr. and Mary Frances Clark, and his brother, Robert Willis Clark, Jr.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Clark, former wife, Tara Clark and Fred Schnee, and siblings, Ron Clark and his wife Sara Denise, Diana Lynn Barber, and Denise Lachelle Harmon and her husband Jimmy Harmon; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

The core of his life was family and friends. He always valued family and friends above anything else in life. He had somewhat of a stoic exterior, but he cared more deeply than most and was never afraid to show it or go out of his way to any extent. This includes in big part the value of thankfulness, he never forgot what others did for him. A big part of his last couple months was showing that thankfulness in any way he could.

His life was a testimony of God’s faithfulness. He had always had a background of faith, and recently made a commitment to Jesus Christ. He believed in the Living God, and the hope that we would one day be resurrected and have eternal peace in heaven. Revelation 21:4 - “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
