Roger D. Gearheart, 68 of Columbus, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on September 16, 2014. Born on December 25, 1945 to the late John Bee and Amanda (Ratliff) Gearheart in Martin, Kentucky.
Survived by loving wife of 45 years Shirley (Bolin) Gearheart, children Jennifer (Chad DeVore) Gearheart and Roger Wayne (Rosanna) Gearheart, grandchildren Addaliza, Chris, Hanna, Keegan, California and Mason, sister Polly Taylor, Flossie Hughes and Linda Gearheart, many nieces, nephews, and The Rainbow Gang; Butch Conkel and Junior Jackson.
Preceded in death by sisters Bertha, Tinnie and Hazel, brothers Emmit, James, Clinton, Clyde, Earl, Kenneth, and ol' huntin' dog Bear. Roger honorably served in the Vietnam War. He was on the U.S.S. Isle Royale and U.S.S. Preston. He worked as an Industrial Mechanic at Capital City Products and retired from the State Highway Patrol.
Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel 3393 Broadway, Grove City on September 19, 2014 from 4pm until time of service at 6pm with Pastor Doug Reed officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to any Veteran Association of your choice.
