Ronald Conrad Bendele, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26th, 2016. For 63-years, he was the loving spouse of Sarah Patricia (Lane) Bendele, who he affectionately referred to as "Tricia My Love" and "Queen of Flytown". He is survived by his son Richard (Sharon) Bendele, Grove City, OH, and Daughter Rhonda (Tim) Dant, Dallas, TX, along with fourteen grandchildren; Anna, Elly, Leah, Rodney, Michael, Frank, Jake, Sam, Michaela, Richelle, Virginia, Micah, Christopher and Jacqueline, and three great-grandchildren, Natalee, Kendall and Richard. His only surviving sibling is Carol Ann (Jonas) Smith. He is preceded in death by Mother, Agnes Conrad Bendele, Father, Othmar Aloysius Bendele, Brother, James Donald Bendele, Son, Bruce Patrick Bendele and Daughter, Kay Ellen Bendele.
Ron was a 1950 graduate of Columbus, Ohio's St. Aquinas High School. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army, enlisting in 1952 and served in the Korean War with the 7th Infantry "Bayonet" Division. In 1953, he was awarded the Bronze Star with the "V" device (a military decoration for valor) for his heroics in the battlefield as a radio operator for his company commander.
He was one-time president, as well as a long-term member of the "Hilltop Sportsman Club". His passion for shooting and hunting, contributed to his effectiveness as an instructor and educator of those who respected the sport.
Prior to retirement in 2003, he was owner and operator of De-Signs of Wood for 22-years, producing first-class signage by utilizing sandblasting methods on wood, glass, mirror and stone. In addition, his passion extended into the kitchen, as he loved preparing pies from scratch and was an avid baker.
In his many years on this earth he provided for many and cared for so many more.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8 from Noon till 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.
Funeral services will begin at Noon on Monday January 9 at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43123.
