Ronald Ellsworth DeVera, 61, of Grove City, Ohio passed away after a long battle with lymphoma on Tuesday June 3rd, 2026, with his wife, Julia, and mother, Helen, by his bedside.

Born on July 25th, 1964, in Parma, Ohio, Ronald was the son of Richard and Helen (Conaway) DeVera. 

Following high school, Ronald served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army, a testament to his selflessness and bravery. His time in the military instilled in him a profound sense of duty and a lifelong appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy. 

His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, spreading joy and comfort wherever he went. Ronald was a man who truly embodied the spirit of giving and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need around him. 

A man of deep faith, Ronald was an active member of the Nazarene Church. His spiritual journey was one characterized by service and love. At one point in Ronald's life, he was so affected by God's mercy and goodness he went on to write a book about his experiences.

As we remember Ronald, let us celebrate the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of cherishing each moment with those we love. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Ronald DeVera's life was a beautiful journey; one marked by love, service, and a profound impact on all who had the privilege of crossing his path. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.  

Ronald is lovingly survived by his wife Julia (Knyazeva) DeVera; children, Maria J. DeVera, Aaron R. DeVera, and Sophia J. DeVera; his mother, Helen; and siblings, Keith DeVera, Daryl DeVera, Dema Knyazeva, Larris DeVera, Luba DeVera, and Rose Shaw. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and his son, Samuel R. DeVera. 

A service to honor Ronald's life will be held at The Naz Church (4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123) on Monday, June 15th, starting at 1:00 PM, with Pastors David Morrison and Ted Haines officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man for two hours prior, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 

Graveside services will take place at 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (5600 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43213) following the services at church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Naz Church (4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123) in keeping with Ronald's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
