Staff Sergeant Ronald Victor Kohsman Sr., 69, passed away January 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 17, 1944 in Detroit, MI to Killian and Pauline Kohsman.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence, Gary and Gerald Kohsman.
He is survived by his wife Valerie Kohsman; children Ronald (Mindy) Kohsman Jr., Richard Kohsman, Renee (Jason Rice) Kohsman, Rose (Tim Ross) Kohsman, and Victoria (Cyle Stevens) Kohsman; grandchildren, Gayle, Brandon, Gabriel, Evan, Junior, Kaylin and Olivia Kohsman, Michael, Taylor and Christian Gilmer, Jimmy Sanzi, Draven Ross, and Clark Stevens; great grandchildren Gracelynn and Gwendolyn Overly; Joanna Gilmer; many nieces and nephews; and many other beloved friends and family.
Ronald was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He began as a foot soldier, and graduated to Nike Hercules Missile Man. He was a missile instructor at Ft. Bliss and thereafter was a member of the Military Police. Ronald received the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service during his 21 years with the Army. After retiring from the Army, he worked in Military Payroll with DFAS and thereafter he worked in Civil Service. Ronald had a great sense of humor and valued time with his family. His greatest hobby was deer hunting in Michigan with his brothers. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family members.
Visitation for Ronald will be on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, OH 43231 followed by his Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Ronald will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memory Gardens, 7060 State Route 3 Westerville, OH 43082.
