Rosemary "Rosie" Jean Newkirk, 56, passed away with family by her side at Ohio State University's James Cancer Center on January 6th, 2019. She was born on December 8, 1962 to Phyllis Jean and Clarence Edgar Newkirk. Rosie is survived by her mother and three siblings; Bill and Greg Newkirk, and Wilma Clyne; her seven children, Ciara Shepard of Columbus, Brittany Scott and Olivia Pack of Washington Courthouse, Joshua and Jason Pack of Marengo, Autumn Pack of Dublin, and Cory Bradley (Pack) of Marion; and her grandchildren Xyla, Lachlann, Bhric, Nevaeh, Jenessa, Ashleigh, Levi and a soon to be born baby boy, Kingston. She is preceded in death by her father and her siblings Debbie, Lenny, Ronnie, and Buddy Newkirk.
In recent years, Rosie overcame the turmoil and afflictions predicated by alternative life choices and in an effort a better life for her and her family, Rosie worked diligently and became the loving mother and doting Nannie she was meant to be.
Rosie was active in her church and was known by all for her loving and giving nature- she was always up for a late-night phone call and gave all who needed it, a shoulder to cry on. She embodied resilience and was always optimistic about the future.
Rosie's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family, hosting family dinners and holidays, especially Christmas, and boasting about the accomplishments made by those close to her.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2 pm, with visitation from noon until said service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rosie's life.
