Roy Edwin Sayre
Our loving father and Pa-Pa passed away peacefully from this life into the next on Sunday, December 7, 2014.
He was born November 9, 1934 in Red House, West Virginia, to the late Roy and Rushie Sayre.
He lived a long, full life of 80 years filled with many loving family members and friends.
Roy and Shirley (Tucker) Sayre were married in 1954 where they lived in Columbus, Ohio.
They resided there for the birth of their first two daughters, Sheila and Vickie.
Then in 1960, they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where their two daughters, Shari and Susan were born.
While living in Ft. Lauderdale, Roy was one of the hardest working men we've ever known.
He retired from Ft. Lauderdale Lincoln Mercury in 1987.
In 1998, Roy and Shirley decided to move "back home" where they resided in Sunbury, Ohio.
Roy continued to reside in Sunbury until his passing.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rushie Sayre, his sister, Margaret Harrison, and his brothers, Raymond and Ronald Sayre.
His greatest loss was the loss of the love of his life, his wife of almost 50 years, Shirley Sayre, who passed before him on his birthday in 2003.
Roy is survived by his sisters, Fiona (Sally) May of Grove City, Christine Hartung of Grove City, Annette Honaker of Eleanor, West Virginia, Elva and Opie Scott of Eleanor, West Virginia.
His children Sheila Allen of Sunbury, Ohio, Vickie and Woodrow Swank of Grove City, Ohio, Shari and James Gross of Coral Springs, FL and Susan Sayre of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Roy has eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild "on the way". His "fifth daughter", Joyce Young of Sunbury, Ohio and friends, Bernie and Kathy Rasmussen of Sunbury, Ohio, many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
We sadly miss his loving kindness, warm smile, humorous nature, and giving heart.
He was always willing to help those who needed help, and he had a way of making everyone feel as if they were special to him and they were!
We rejoice that he is with his heavenly father, his loving wife, his parents, and many others who have gone on before him.
We look forward to our reunion as well.
