Roy Gene Vance

Roy Gene Vance, born on March 5, 1942, in Steeles, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. He lived a life full of hard work, humor, and pride in his accomplishments. Roy was a dedicated business owner alongside his brother Clint, establishing C and R Trailer Repair in 1976. Their commitment to their work and community was evident as Roy continued to put in 40-hour weeks until just before his passing. In 2016, he had the joy of handing over the family business to his grandson Preston, which was one of his proudest moments.

Roy served his country as a proud Army veteran, an experience that shaped not only his character but also his strong work ethic. He was known for his ornery personality, coupled with a good sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Often referred to as the best hillbilly engineer, Roy possessed a unique ability to find creative solutions to problems, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

His interests outside of work were diverse; he enjoyed watching western and Hallmark movies, making birdhouses, and painting. These hobbies reflected his hands-on approach to life and his love for creating.

Roy is survived by his two sons, Roy Earl (Jackie) Vance and Jeffrey Allen (Jennifer) Vance. He also leaves behind his brother Walton Lester, his sister Zelma Ferral, and grandchildren Preston, Chandler, Cody, Alexis, and Justin, who will carry on his legacy.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Earl Vance, his mother, Marie Hatfield, and his beloved wife, Lauran Vance. Roy also rejoins his siblings: Goldie, Dave, Maude, Hannah, Roger, Clint, Grace, and June.

Roy Gene Vance will be remembered not only for his hardworking spirit and sense of humor but also for the deep connections he forged throughout his life with friends and customers alike. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
