On Monday, April 27th, Ruth Ann Miller went home to Jesus. She was surrounded by close friends and family in her final weeks, a reflection of the deep love that marked her life.
Ruth Ann will be remembered for her great faith and deep hunger for God, her brilliant and creative mind, and her warmth, wisdom, and compassion. She lit up every room she entered.
Ruth Ann was born on March 13th, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mary and Jerold Jones. She dedicated her life to serving children, adolescents, and their families. Over the years, she worked as a middle and high school English teacher, a preschool teacher and director, and later as a social worker supporting children with special needs and their families.
Within her faith community, Ruth Ann will be especially remembered for her enchanting children’s sermons and her engaging teaching in adult Sunday school classes.
Ruth Ann Miller is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert Miller; her four children, Rob, Robyn, Ryan, and Rebecca; her children’s spouses, Wendy, Dave, Nan, and Dave; her 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jerri Johnson.
Her family will forever cherish her daily labor of love, expressed through family dinners, games, and holiday traditions; nightly debriefs and prayers; novels read aloud; costumes created; and her support of every interest and activity. She welcomed friends with an open door, made space for imagination and adventure - forts built, things broken, pets of all kinds endured, and lots of laughter. Above all, we will always cherish her bright smile.
Her life was a living testimony to the love of Christ, and her legacy will continue to bear fruit for generations to come. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 23rd.
