Ruth Darling Brofford, 107, of Grove City, OH was promoted to glory on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, her late husband Alfred's birthday. Ruth was born on October 18, 1912 in a coal mining town in West Virginia, the daughter of Marian and Mary (Counts) Rawson.
She married Alfred Brofford on November 5, 1930. Ruth's long life included working in a factory during WWII, running and cooking for the diner at Alfred's Motel, teaching Sunday School, and making thousands of meals for family and those working for the family sod farms. She lived in the home that Alfred built for them in 1964 until she was over 100 years old. Her main focus was following God and living a life pleasing to him.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Alfred, siblings, Goldie, Mary, Flossie, Juanita, Jack. She is survived by her four children, Lois Morgan of Azusa, CA, Carl Brofford of Circleville, OH, Clive (Julie) Brofford of Galloway, OH, Randy Brofford of Morganton, NC. Her legacy also includes sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-5pm, Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
A funeral service will begin at 1pm, Monday, January 13, 2020 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor George Jordan.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
