Ruth Ellen Parr

Ruth Ellen Parr, 91, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2026. 

Ruth was born August 19, 1934 in Westerville, Ohio to Raymond and Martha (Johnson) Spillman.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She would jump at the chance to spend time with them and thoroughly enjoyed any and all family gatherings. 

Ruth retired from the Credit Bureau of Columbus in 1996 after 42 years of service. She also was given a huge send off by COTA for her years of loyalty to the bus service. They renamed the #38 bus route "The Ruth Parr Express". Ruth was a people oriented person, She did not know a stranger. In her final years she enjoyed the many friendships she was able to form through her "COTA friends" and at Springwood Place. Those friendships became a lifeline to her and her family. The family will be forever grateful for their devotion to Ruth.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her daughter Janet (Ben) Sutter; grandchildren, Nichole (Rusty) Blackburn, whom she and her husband Richard raised, Amanda Sutter, Christopher (Kimberly) Sutter, Nathan Sutter, Tiffany (Bobby) Fairbanks; great-grandchildren Destiny, Alyssa, Elaina, Joey, Lilly, Andy, Sophie, Will, Annabelle and Paisley, along with several nieces and nephews, other family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard to whom she was married for 61 1/2 years and her son Richard Douglas Parr

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm at Newcomer NE Chapel 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. with Pastor Brian Grove officiating,. Burial will be at Blendon Township Cemetery.
