Samuel E. Lehman, 79, affectionately known as "Sam" to those who loved him, passed away on May 11, 2026, at Mount Carmel Hospital in Grove City, Ohio. Born on March 14, 1947, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Sam lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, a passion for music, and a deep commitment to service.
Sam’s journey was defined by his steadfast courage and honor during his time in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction through the Vietnam War and completed his twenty year career earning the prestigious National Recruiter of the Year Award in 1982. Sam was also a member of the American Legion Post 532, Grove City, where he served on the Honor Guard.
Sam found his greatest happiness in the moments shared with family and friends. Whether reveling in the thrill of football games, or simply embracing the company of those closest to him, Sam treasured these times deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Witmer) Lehman; his devoted children, Samantha (Richard) Lanning of Somerset, Ohio, and Sean Lehman of Obetz, Ohio; and his beloved grandchildren, Tristan (Becca Reynolds) Sailor, Brandon Lanning, and Megan Lanning. Sam’s warmth and strength also live on in his sisters, Miriam Martel and Barbara (Edward) Seibert, both of Hershey, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph G. and Sara H. (Haldeman) Lehman, and brother Robert Lehman.
The family will gather with friends and loved ones for a visitation on May 21, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. This farewell will be a time to celebrate a life that was rich with love, bravery, music, and heartfelt memories. Following this, a second gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 618 E. Main Street, Annville, PA 17003. Burial will immediately follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery; 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003.
