Sandra Marie Essig (Fee)
Sandy Essig, 79, died on February 26, 2020 at Mt. Carmel East hospital in Columbus after a short battle with cancer. She was born August 4, 1940, Columbus, Ohio, to the late Roy and Thelma Fee.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved son Chad Alan Harness, sisters Marylin Fee, Sharon King and brother Daniel Fee.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Lester Essig; sister, Patty Finta, brother Jerry (Irene) Fee, sister Pam (Chuck) Watzek, sister Janet (Ralph) Branson, sister Debbie (Dave) King; children, Roy (Suzie) Harness, Brian Harness, daughter-in-law Melody Phillips-Harness and step-children Judy Miller, Peggy (Glenn) Weber, Jimmy (Kim) Allman; grandchildren, Max (Amanda) Harness, Kyle Harness, Jack Harness, Mia Harness, Darian Harness, Cheyenne Harness, Myles Harness, Chad Harness Jr., Corie Harness, Ashley Weber, Aaron Weber, Tyler Weber, Jennifer Clark, Jessica Miller, Jordan Miller, Colton Allman, Jeffrey Allman and Jaime Allman; great-granddaughter, Leona Anderson; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
At South High School she was a varsity cheerleader (1958) and enjoyed the frequent lunches with her high school teammates almost every year since. After graduating high school, she began her career at Battelle Memorial Institute at 17 years of age, where she worked until retiring after 35 years. After retiring, Sandy was active in the Moose, various homeowners associations, the Columbus Police Citizens Academy and many, many outings and activities with her wonderful husband Les. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and watching them all grow up.
In accordance with her wishes, we will not be having visiting hours or a funeral service, instead we will be hosting a celebration of her life on March 14, 2020 at Cobblestone at the Preserve Clubhouse, located at 6200 Stonewalk Lane, New Albany, OH 43054 from 1:00-3:00 pm. (Please park on the east side of the road)
