Sis. Sandra Lee Saunders (76)
Our beloved Mother, Grandma, Cousin, and Friend, is in the presence of the Lord, her heavenly father Jesus Christ open His arms and took her home on July 1, 2026, she was comforted by family. She was born on April 19, 1950. She was raised in the Village of Urbancrest, Ohio. Sandra attended Urbancrest Elementary school, and graduated from Grove City High School. She was also a Girl Scout. She will be most remembered for her spirit to help and serve, and her love for everyone. Sandra began her spiritual journey with baptism in Jesus Name started years ago, she visited many churches, New Haven Church under Bishop Gaius Griffea, then Truth Evangelic Center under Bishop Brian Keith Williams, there she received the holy spirit, speaking in other tongues. Sandy loved to sing, she sang in many choirs. She later moved her membership to Bethel Apostolic Church of Christ, under Elder Richard Lyles, where she ushered as long as she could. She also loved to sing Gods praises in the choir. New Haven Church loved to hear her sing; “No one like the Father”.
Sandy received the Ellen Walker Craig-Jones Community Service Award, at the Mayors Black History Month Celebration, in Urbancrest, Ohio, February 2023. Sandra was appointed on 2014, and began serving on the Planning Commission Committee for the Village of Urbancrest as a member until her death.
Sandy had such a contagious “Laugh” that would make you laugh with her, when you heard it, even if you didn’t want to, she was blessed with a servant’s heart, she shall be truly missed by everyone that knew, and loved her.
Sandra is preceded in death by her Parents, Mary (Kemper) Vester-Cray, and Harold Vester, her Bonus Parents, Robert and Gladys Curry, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts and Uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Son; Dontayes ( Renee) Brown, Daughter; Torlena (Lamont) Davis-Banks, Brother, Grandchildren; Malik, Zephaniah, Kayla, Deja, Zanayyah, Zaryyah, Marquise; and Maya, and a host of, cousins, special family members, and friends. Special acknowledgement; her very special friend, her baby, her pet dog “Sweet Pea”, she never left Sandys side.
Special Note: I thank God for Sandys presence on this earth, and now her spirit lies with the Heavenly Father Jesus Christ, our Savior, God does all things well. Family remember who she served, and continue that walk, with Jesus Christ.
