Sunbury – Sarie Lyn Bartow, 59, of Sunbury, died Friday, September 16, 2016, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 1, 1957, in Columbus, OH, the daughter of the late Clarence Addley and Martha Katherine (Smith) Phinney. She was also preceded in death by her Grandparents Walter R. and Donna Lannon Smith, her Uncle and Aunt Donald (Don) and Mary Canterbury-Smith, and her beloved Golden Retriever, Phoenix.
Sarie graduated from Northland High School in 1975 in which she was a member of the drill team as well as a member of student council. Sarie loved all of her classmates and always looked forward to her class reunion. Most especially, she cherished her life-long, best friends/family, Toni and Vicki Piccione as well as Juli, Joe and their parents Jim and Barb Piccione, who welcomed Sarie into their home as one of their own.
Sarie retired from the Post Office in 2004. She loved her route in New Albany. She was an avid reader and writer. She owned hundreds of books on all topics and also had a couple articles published in the Columbus Dispatch. She loved history, political history, and music. Specifically, she loved The Beatles. She loved to dance and did not matter where or when. She was also an avid Ohio State Football fan. Most importantly, though, she was a loving friend, sister, aunt, wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Kenneth (Ken) Bartow; children, Michelle and Kevin Bartow; brother Michael (Mike) Phinney; nieces, Sherri Bartow, Brigitte (Bartow) Betosky, and Brittany (Bartow) Skeens; brother-in-law's Ron and Phil Bartow; her extended family the Loeffler's, Carolyn (Tom), Kathy (Burton), Lou, Patti (Colarossi), and Barbara (Fox); her friends, Barb (Danny) King, Pam and Terry Hook, Bruce and Mel Catron; and one of her best friends/sister, Dee Hale.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, September 26, 2016, 4-6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Memorial Service at 6 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Huntington's Disease, 505 8th Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
