Scott Michael Wesney, 42, passed away on October 7, 2026.
Born in Ventura, California, to Vicky Wesney (Vause) and Michael Wesney, Scott was raised in Westerville, Ohio, where he attended Westerville North High School and spent much of his life. In later years, he made his home in southeastern Ohio.
From an early age, Scott was larger than life. He was charismatic, funny, playful, and impossible to forget. He seemed to know everyone, and people were naturally drawn to him. Scott could make nearly anyone smile or laugh, and he had an unmistakable way of speaking, with familiar sayings, mannerisms, and little quirks that were uniquely his. Those who knew him best will continue to hear his voice in the inside jokes and expressions they shared with him.
Scott wore his heart on his sleeve. He cared deeply for people who felt overlooked, needed support, or did not have a voice of their own. He believed strongly in mental health awareness and often spoke about wishing he could do more to help others. His compassion was genuine, and his heart was generous. He was the kind of person who would give someone the shirt off his back.
Family held the most important place in Scott’s life. One of his proudest and most meaningful roles was raising his niece as his own daughter. He cherished her deeply, and the years he spent caring for her brought him immeasurable meaning and joy. He also played a significant role in his younger sister’s upbringing, serving as an important role model and a constant presence throughout her life.
Later in life, Scott devoted much of his time and care to his father, who was not only his dad but also his best friend. Among the memories his father and brother will always hold close are the whitewater rafting trips they shared, filled with adventure, laughter, and time together. Those trips remain some of his father’s most cherished memories of Scott.
Scott was proudly a mama’s boy through and through, and he was never ashamed of it. His relationship with his mother was incredibly close, built on countless conversations, laughter, understanding, and unconditional love.
His Christian faith mattered deeply to him, and he carried a personal relationship with God. He loved his country and was a patriot through and through. Above all, Scott loved his family.
Scott was a devoted Ohio State fan and loved the Buckeyes, most of the time. In later years, he developed a deep love for hockey and became an enthusiastic Columbus Blue Jackets fan. He could speak passionately about movies, video games, sports, and nearly anything else that caught his interest. He was talented, expressive, silly, goofy, and a character in the truest and best sense of the word.
Scott is survived by his mother, Vicky; his father, Michael; his brother; his two sisters; the niece he raised and loved as a daughter; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, lifelong friends, and others whose lives were touched by his humor, compassion, and unmistakable presence.
Those closest to Scott will remember his heart, his faith, his loyalty, his humor, and the way he made people feel. They will remember the strange little sayings, the shared jokes, the long conversations, the adventures, and the countless pieces of him that could never be fully captured in words.
Scott was the best of us. He was deeply loved, and he will be missed forever.
