Listen to Obituary

Sharon Lee Porter, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

Born April 27, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, Sharon spent most of her life rooted in the community she loved. She was a proud graduate of South High School and went on to earn an associate degree in mental health. She also served in the United States Marine Corps and later dedicated her career to the State of Ohio.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Porter; her parents, Forest and Dora McMannis; and her niece, Hailey McMannis.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sheri (JJ) Fannin and Bobbi (Robert) Lawson; her grandchildren, Coleman (Nikki) Browning, Logan (Alexis) Browning, and Jonathon (Macey) Horn; her great-grandchildren, Hazel Browning, Nora Browning, Paisley Browning, Noah Horn, and Jordynn Horn; her siblings, George (Pam) McMannis, Dan (Connie) McMannis, and Cindy McMannis; her nephews, Jimmy (Jennifer) Carter, Michael Owsley, and Chad Owsley; along with Whitney McMannis and many extended family members.

Sharon was truly one of a kind. She was funny, caring, outspoken, and unapologetically herself—a true firecracker with an ornery streak that those closest to her knew and loved. She spoke her mind, kept things honest, and had a quick wit that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing. She had a strong presence and a personality that made her unforgettable.

She found joy in life’s simple moments—spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren grow, sitting outside watching the deer, and being with her dogs. She enjoyed puzzles, cross-stitch, and her favorite television shows, and she rarely missed a game, especially when Notre Dame was playing. She also loved camping and spending time outdoors.

Sharon will be remembered for her big heart, her loyalty, and the way she showed up for the people she loved. Whether through her humor, her honesty, or her unmistakable personality, she left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, where funeral services will then be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at Obetz Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Smile Train. However, if you choose to send flowers, Sharon would have loved the brightest, most colorful arrangements.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
