Sherlie Kessler

Sherlie Mae Kessler (January 29th, 1944 - April 13th, 2026) passed peacefully in her Grove City home on Monday afternoon. She is preceded by Sterlie William Greenlee (Father), Florence Gertrude Greenlee(Rodgers) (Mother), and Sally Green(Greenlee) (Sister).

Her last moments were spent in the care and comfort of her husband of sixty-five years, Ronald Lee Kessler, and her daughter Sheryl Lee Gillogy (Larry) (Kessler). She is survived by them, John Scott Kessler (Angela) (Son) Jeffrey Allen Kessler (Son), Sandra Johnson(Greenlee) (Sister), and Sterlie William Greenlee (Brother). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren who affectionately called her Mawmaw.

She was born in Columbus though she spent most of her childhood on Greer Road in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, before moving back to Darbydale. In her youth she attended Pleasant View High School (1961), She spent those early West Virginia years with her loving Greenlee Grandparents as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins.

If Sherlie was not visiting family, she was tending to her garden and bird feeders. She would sit on the porch with binoculars and watch the vast array of birds across the seasons. She had catalogues of books on birds, and could sharply identify them.

Beyond being the guiding light and caretaker of the family, Sherlie had a charming sense of humor and shared many inside jokes that would routinely be repeated with her kids such as “Airplane Spins”, “June Bugs”, and “Rooster, Pullet, Hen”.

She was happiest when around her family, and she had a gift of reflecting that happiness into the faces of even the fussiest great grandbaby. She helped them each understand how to get along in the world, and to know that they would always be loved as Mawmaw’s baby.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 5-8pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Paint Township Cemetery in London.
