Listen to Obituary

Sheryl “Sherri” Hickman Love, 71 of Grove City Ohio, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on September 10, 2026. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, June 2, 1955.

Sherri always knew she wanted to be a teacher, and faithfully followed that calling for 34 years, teaching both second grade and kindergarten. Her love for children, her dedication to teaching, and the countless lives she touched through her years in education were a beautiful reflection of her caring heart.

Sherri was fun loving, had an easy laugh and brought joy wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing a good laugh and making memories. She also loved to travel, enjoying new places, new experiences, and the adventures that came along the way. Her warmth, humor and genuine love for people made her someone who was easy to know and even easier to love.

Sherri’s generous heart was evident in an extraordinary way when she donated a kidney to someone she didn’t know. She gave this precious gift asking nothing in return. This selfless act reflected the compassion, courage and love of others that characterized so much of her life.

Above all else, Sherri’s walk with Jesus was her priority. Her faith was not simply something she believed, it was something she lived. Though First Baptist Church of Grove City, she devoted many years to serving others and sharing the love of Christ. She started and led Awana for many years, as well as First Place for Health. She also started a ministry; Neighbors Helping Neighbors, reaching out to those in need and bringing encouragement, compassion, and practical help to her community.

Sherri’s life was one of service, love, faithfulness and joy. She had a gift for making a difference in the lives of others, whether through a classroom, a church ministry, a helping hand to a neighbor, or the relationships she built throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the many people she taught, encouraged, served, and led closer to Jesus.

Sherri will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, former students and all she had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter, kindness, love and unwavering faith will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. While her absence leaves a great void, those who loved her find comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Savior she loved and faithfully served.

Sherri was preceded in death by her father, Don Hickman.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Wes Love; her sons, Shawn Love and Cory Love; her mother, Betty “Mema” Hickman and her siblings, Don Hickman (Cynthia), Shirley Eberst (Rick) and David Hickman (Tina), sand many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 17th, 2026 at First Baptist Church (3301 Orders Rd, Grove City, OH 43123). A memorial service celebrating Sherri's life will be held at 11:00 am the next morning in the church, on Friday, September 18th, 2026.
