Shirley A. Oberting "Monie", 79, was born a coal miners daughter in Oak Hill, WV to Vernon and Bertha Burgess on March 27, 1936. She passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Columbus, OH.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Mike Hertenstein.
She is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Hertenstein, Christine (Dale) Robinson and Debra Kubiak; grandchildren, Nick Hertenstein, Alexandra Hertenstein, Jared Robinson, Brady Robinson, Amy (Donald) Eikenberry, Alicia (Jason) Simpkins, Matthew (Amy) Robinson and Torie Rhyan; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cooper, and Jude; sisters, Sue (Chuck) Sierer and Patty (Fred) Wakefield; and Fred Oberting.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231 followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00pm with Pastor Brady Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior's Project (In honor of Shirley Oberting, Jim Hunter, Columbus Event) PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
