Shirley A. "Nanny" Arnold, 71, of Pataskala, Ohio went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Shirley was born December 18, 1945 to the late Earl and Dorothy Caliver. Nanny is predeceased by her brothers, Kenny and Harold; sisters, Rose, Marilyn "Dana", Darla and Earline.
Nanny is survived by her loving husband, Joe Tilley; children, LaTonja "Toni" (Tyrone), Derek (Thyra) and DaNita; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Jr., Gerald and Ronald "Butch" (Karen); special friend, Lee "Sister Sister" Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family from Greater Vision Missionary Baptist Church. Nanny's loss will be felt by many other friends and family members too numerous to name.
Shirley worked at SCOA Industries in the 70's and 80's where she was a data entry operator. She later became the first woman to work at SCOA's warehouse where she picked orders, loaded trucks and supervised and met her husband. She then went to work at Shonac Corporation before it became DSW where she was a computer operator and an office manager. She retired from Abbott Labs as a payroll clerk in 2005.
Shirley's most important job was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also gave her time to many organizations and charities as well as her church where she sang in the choir and held office of financial secretary, usher and treasurer.
To honor Shirley's memory, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Greater Vision Missionary Baptist Church, 100 N. 20th St. Columbus, OH.
