Shirley Ann Shepherd, 68, of Columbus, passed away June 20, 2020. She was born in West Point, Georgia on October 14, 1951 to Charlie Mae Shepherd. She will be deeply missed by her children; Tracy Shephard and Felicia Jackson, grandchildren; Mercedes, Brian, Jamil, Sharnece, great-grandchild Noah.
Mom, you were my friend before you knew it,
Even though you were violated, but you still gave birth to 2 beautiful children.
You were lost in a single world that was selfish,
That made your heart hard as shellfish.
My mother lived her life in so much sorrow,
Her words were "If I live to see tomorrow".
When I was young I watched her cry because she missed her mother,
That man took a mother that had 3 daughters and the 3 daughters never had closure.
I can say my mother was a jack of all trades,
She use to take my sister and I fishing, tennis, and at seven I learned how to play spades.
She worked on cars, cut grass, cut trees, and she had so many tools,
I used to get mad when she used to beat me shooting pool.
When she says she's on her way she's always on time,
She used to get mad at me because I was never on time.
The best thing she did for my sister and I was moving to Sacramento,
That was a long 4 day journey riding in a bright red Ford Torino.
She raised my sister and I the best she could,
She did what she knew best because she didn't have a childhood.
She learned at an early age of survival,
She always prayed for her family and always read the Bible.
For her birthday all she wanted was cigarettes, beer, and something good to eat,
She wasn't a fan on going out to eat, because she loved being around her immediate family.
My mother loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchild like she gave birth,
I know she's happy and looking at us because she done a lot that was worth.
Now that you're resting, but you're alive in all of us,
Please say hi to grandma from all of us.
I love you forever
