Sonny was a no-nonsense, tell it like it is guy. He loved to joke around and entertain people either with his antics or his love of music and singing as a member of Sonny and the Intruders Band in High School and also Gospel music in church while also preaching the gospel.

He was a 4th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and martial arts instructor. He coached Little League football in Gahanna and high school at Westerville North High School for many years. Sonny played on many softball teams, and bowling and golf leagues. Boxed in Golden Gloves. He loved fishing, especially in Canada and cat fishing in Ohio.

Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 8736 and one of the Monday Poker Players.

Sonny is survived by the love of his life, Marlene (Andrasik), who he married in Dayton, OH, on September 25, 1971. Also survived by his sons who he was so proud of: Mick (Renee) Yinger and Scott (Julie) Yinger and by his grandsons who were his "buddies" and brought him so much joy: Noah Yinger and Colton and Wyatt Yinger. Also survived by his loving sister, Mary (Mike) Thomas, dear niece and nephew, Tracy (Ed) Davidson and Brad (Cathy) Thomas. Services will be held at 12:30pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Newcomer, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
