Stanley "Stan" G. Baldwin, 87, of Orient, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Meadow Groves Transitional Care Facility in Grove City, Ohio.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Stan was a proud American who dedicated his life to serving both his country and his community. Shortly after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy on May 16, 1956. Following boot camp in San Diego, California, he was assigned to the USS Salisbury Sound (AV-13), a seaplane tender, where he served as a deck hand until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1958. During his naval service, Stan traveled extensively throughout the Pacific, visiting ports in Oahu, Hawaii; Yokosuka, Nagasaki, and Sasebo, Japan; Okinawa (White Beach); Subic Bay and Manila, Philippines; Bo Ko Ko, Formosa; and Hong Kong. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the China Service Medal (Extended).

After returning to civilian life, Stan built a successful career in the trucking industry as a warehouse manager. His dedication, leadership, and expertise in managing many facets of operations earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his career. One of his assignments brought him to Ohio, where he established roots and remained for the rest of his life.

Stan was deeply committed to serving fellow veterans and his local community. For nearly 25 years, he was an active member of VFW Post 11208, where he faithfully served in numerous leadership and volunteer roles, including Quartermaster, Poppy Chairman, Membership Chairman, and many others. His devotion to helping others, especially his fellow veterans, reflected the generosity and patriotism that defined his character.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Ora Baldwin, and by his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Baldwin.

He is survived by his children, Ted Baldwin, Ida Ashby, Robin Pavey, Ashley Davoli, Carrie Metcalf, and Brittany McCampbell, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. All who knew Stan will remember his unwavering love, infectious laughter, generous spirit, and steadfast dedication to family, friends, and country.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Harrisburg United Methodist Church, 1160 High Street, Harrisburg, Ohio 43126, officiated by Pastor Angie Taylor. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 10:30 a.m., with services commencing at 11:00 a.m.

In honor of Stan's patriotic spirit and enduring love for his country and fellow veterans, the family kindly requests that attendees wear red, white, and blue.

Those attending will have the opportunity to donate to organizations that were especially meaningful to Stan, in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home Grove City, Ohio.

Stan's legacy of service, loyalty, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
