Stanley Concezio Monaco, Jr.

Stanley Concezio Monaco Jr., 77, of Westerville, Ohio, passed peacefully at home on January 26, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to Stanley Sr. and Pauline (Sandera) Monaco, and was a first-generation Italian-American. As the son of immigrants, he grew up working hard and prioritizing family.

Stan honorably and bravely served his country in the Army as an infantryman during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. After returning from Vietnam, Stan earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University in 1974. He then built a distinguished 44-year career as a tax accountant, serving both the public and private sectors. His professional career included positions with the State of Ohio, Borden Inc., and Limited Brands, where he was recognized for his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.

In 1976, while they were both employed at Borden, Stan met his wife, Karen. Two years later, they were married on April 28, 1978, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Westerville, Ohio.

Family meant everything to Stan. He and Karen were blessed with four children, one grandchild, and too many fur babies to count. Known for his warmth, humor, and selflessness, Stan never missed a soccer game, baseball game, dance competition, band performance, or a promotion by his children. Nor did he ever meet a stray animal he wouldn’t welcome into his home.

Stan is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Karen, of 48 years; his children Nicholas (Adriana) Monaco, Elizabeth (Douglas) Brooks, Gregory (Miranda) Monaco, and Jessica (Joshua) Haskins; and his granddaughter, Josette Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Pauline Monaco.

Visiting hours will be held on 16 February 2026 at Newcomers Funeral Home, 3047 E.
