Steeirl Hunt

Steeirl Hunt, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 4, 2025, at his cherished home. Born on March 30, 1935, in Kimper, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ireland and Nona Hunt.

Steeirl was preceded in death by his loving parents and eleven siblings. He leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Alma L. Hunt, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. Together, they nurtured a wonderful family that includes their sons, Steve (Diane) Hunt and David Hunt, along with daughters Janet Hunt and Julie (Michael) Clark. His grandchildren, Jeremy (Kylie) Hunt, Ashley Hunt, Kristen Hunt, Courtney (Brad) Shearrow, Lindsey (Caleb) Burton, Jeffery Oates, and Rylee Clark, brought much joy to his life, as did his great-grandchildren, Mason, Nolan, Lydia, and James. He is also survived by his siblings, John, Troy (Barb), Brooksie (John), Doris, and Jack (Wenda), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

Steeirl's passions were many. He found joy in fishing and cherished the time he spent outdoors. His commitment to the community was evident in his many years coaching baseball for SILL's Ball Park, where he inspired countless young athletes. He retired after dedicating 35 years of his life to General Motors. A true sports enthusiast, he was a loyal fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.

Above all, Steeirl was a devoted husband, father, and pawpaw. He treasured the moments spent with his family and took great pride in tending to his garden, where he could grow a tomato better than anyone else. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM for visiting hours at Newcomer SW Chapel, located at 3393 Broadway Grove City, Ohio 43123. A funeral service will follow, commencing at 1 PM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Cemetery as a final tribute to a life well-lived.
