Stella Mae Mango, 92, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on September 12, 2026. She was born October 8, 1933, to Vangie and Alfred Robertson in Wild, Wonderful Wayne, West Virginia. Stella was one of eight children and was the last surviving sibling.
Stella married the love of her life, Ben Mango, and together they built a life centered around family, hard work, faith, and community. They raised two daughters, Stephanie Jones and Kathie Smith (Ron), and were blessed with granddaughter Stephanie Syrylo (Derek) and great-grandchildren Sloan and Callen, who were the loves of Stella’s life.
Stella and Ben eventually became owners of three neighborhood grocery stores, where they were known for their generosity, kindness, and commitment to their community. They helped the elderly, mentored young people, and touched countless lives.
Above all, Stella was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who brought people together and never missed an opportunity for a good time and a good laugh.
Stella was also known for her love of photography, cooking, baking, gardening, and nature. Her holiday meals were legendary, her gardens breathtaking, and her homemade canned goods and baked treats were treasured by everyone fortunate enough to enjoy them.
