Stephen Joseph Leslie

Stephen Joseph Leslie, 68, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born February 21, 1953, in Columbus, son of the late Walter and Helen Turner Leslie. He was married to Roxanne Collins Leslie, who survives.

Also survived by; his sons; Jason Leslie of Chester, Virginia, Eric (Nicole) Leslie of Upper Arlington and daughter, Renee (Nelson) Wickline of Plain City; stepsons; Randall (Cheryse) Wellman of Mt. Vernon and Mitch Wellman of Sunbury; grandchildren; Randall, Aiden, Brady, Eloise and Caroline; two great grandchildren (Cheryse); brother, Ron (Clare) Leslie of Brecksville and sisters; Margie (Jim) Beiter of Lancaster, Dottie (Dan) Ahern of Lancaster and Judy (Dave) Smith of Hilliard; several nieces and nephews.

Steve grew up in Columbus; the youngest of five siblings. During his youth he worked with his father who was a builder and helped to maintain various properties. Through that experience he developed skills which enabled him to complete many personal home renovation projects and other building projects, including some very nice wooden decks.

He graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in 1971 after forming lifelong friendships and playing lots of baseball. He then worked with Claprood’s Florist for some time, earned a degree from DeVry Technical Institute and just simply enjoyed life.

In 1979 he was hired by IBM and then served operations over the next 41 years, installing and maintaining mainframe systems; frequently learning the upgrades.

He owned a home each for a time in Columbus, Gahanna, Blacklick and McArthur as well as a vacation cabin near to Mohican State Park and a vacation home in Tucson, Arizona.

Along with his wife, he enjoyed travel around the United States, many trips to Mexico and a trip to Italy.

Steve was a dedicated son, sibling, husband, dad, friend and grandpa.

His voice, laughter and mustache will always be remembered by those who loved him and by those that he loved.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Newcomer Northwest Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio 43065.
