Steven Jay Nance, 57, of Galena, OH, left this "Beautiful Green Planet" suddenly on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, doing what he did best: repairing medical equipment. His soul was in his music with a voice that many have said sounded like Neil Young: his favorite artist. Music was his favorite hobby and he hosted years of open mic nights at Mud Flats on the square in Galena. Sailing was a long time love of his. He was as deep as the oceans he dreamed of sailing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Columbus Firefighter, John W. Nance, who was his hero.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Nance; his two strong sons, John Nance, 31 & Daniel Nance, 24; mother, Linda Nance; brother, Doug Nance; sister, Suzette Nance; uncle, Joseph Nance; and Steve Thompson, his best friend since grade school.
He touched many lives through his music, his infinite knowledge and his big heart. He will be remembered well and missed dearly.
A visitation for Steve will be on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, OH 43231 followed by a short service at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to a favorite charity and remember him every time you hear Neil Young.
