Sylvia Howard, age 70, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
Our precious Sylvia was born in Glen Rogers, WV, where she experienced a life changing event that came with unique challenges which she never allowed to hinder her ambitions or inhibit achievement of her dreams and goals.
She resided in Washington, D.C. for 33 years where she retired from Verizon Wireless after many years of service.
After retirement, Sylvia moved to Columbus, Ohio to be near her family.
Sylvia spent many years serving as a loving foster parent and enjoyed reading, playing cards and video games.
Sylvia loved to entertain and enjoyed family celebrations, most notably Christmas, when she showered her family with gifts. Above all Sylvia treasured the loving relationships she had with her children, sisters, brothers, and extended family and friends.
Predeceased by parents, Richard and Laura Wright; brothers Harry and Robert Wright, sister Ada "Darlene" Kamara and longtime companions Charles Thorpe and George Coffey.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Shawn Wright and Candy Broaddus; grandchildren Jayme, Justen (Daria), Tracy, Brandyn, and Sydney; sisters and brothers Evadean Davis, Ricardo Wright, Martha Manns, Marian (Clarence) Richardson, Anita Valerie (Isaiah) Coleman, of Columbus, Ohio; Flemmon Wright of Washington, DC; special brothers Christopher (Ann) Woods and Eldridge (Erika) Law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2016 from 11:00-12:00 PM at Flintridge Church, 3330 Scottwood Rd. Columbus, OH 43227, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
