Sylvia Tomei, 94, of Columbus, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East.
She was born December 11, 1921 in Fairmont, OH, daughter of the late Rocco Simon and Lena Calligaro Tomei.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Tomei; sisters, Rachel Tomei, Alice Dellenbaugh and Lucia Tomei.
She is survived by her sisters, Anna Tomei and Lucie Denlinger; nieces, Florence Tomei, Marion Patterson, Lynn Lawrence and Sylvia Denlinger; nephews, Thomas Denlinger and Roger Patrick Denlinger.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd. Columbus.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the church.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct. Hilliard, OH 43026.
Sylvia was a lovely person with a big heart. She will be greatly missed.
