Thelma Roberta Evans

Thelma R. Evans, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 15, 1929 in Lawrence County, KY.
She is the daughter of the late Forest and Rinda (Cox) Pelfrey. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elwood Evans and daughter, Lanella Evans; brothers, Elder John Pelfrey, Elder Emmerson Pelfrey, William "Pat", Ellis, Forest Jr., Chester and Robert; sisters, Grettie Maxie, Nannie Rigsby and Grace Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 5 years, Elder Joe Sparks; sisters, Betty Wheeler and Gladys Wells; 2 step-daughters, Beatrice Varney and Kay (Elder Ronald) Gray and their families; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Columbus United Baptist Church. She was a Christian for 72 years. She sang in the Searching Lights Gospel group for several years with family and friends. She was employed by both Macy's and Sears in their jewelry dept.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Newcomer Grove City, 3393 Broadway.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be her nephews, Elder Buell Webb and Elder Elmer "Bill" Webb.
Interment to follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
