Listen to Obituary

In loving memory, we announce the passing of Ted Sherron, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on March 26, 2026. Ted was born in Washington, Pennsylvania where he was raised by his mother, Lottie Wilkins and grandmother Catherine Brooks.

Ted served proudly in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the senior non-commission rank of Master Sergeant and specialized in aircraft structural repair. He was stationed in the United States, Vietnam, England, France, North Africa, and Germany. After a decade of active duty, he continued his service in the Air Force Reserve earning full military retirement.

Pursuing his higher-education goals, Ted earned a bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University and completed graduate studies in Art History at Ohio State University.

After college, Ted worked in the admissions office at Wilberforce and Denison universities. Combining his love of art and his college administration experience, Ted enjoyed a fulfilling 22 years at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He retired as the Director of Student Services in 2004.

A faithful member of the East Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, Ted continued to nurture his spiritual life while in Columbus through virtual services at the Alfred Street Baptist Church.

Ted's personal interests included visiting art shows and museums and learning water color painting. An avid fountain pen collector, he spent decades building an extensive collection, restoring pens, and attending pen shows. In retirement, Ted discovered golf, quickly developing skills and joining the Par9 golf group.

Above all, Ted was a man devoted and so very proud of his family; his wife of 40 years, Adrianne; his children, Stacey Brown (Dean), Rhonda, Theodore Sherron Jr. (Crystal), Nicole Sherron, and Christopher Sherron (Maricarmen); his grandchildren, Rasheda, Edward, Dean Jr., Ashley Lynn, Neko, Theodore Sherron III, and Jasmine; his great-grandchildren, Alayna, Sydney, Dean III, Jordyn, Jupiter, Jovi, Devon, Kayla, Kadan, Kaleb, Karson, and Kaison.

Ted Sherron was known for his easy-going personality and his discerning, knowledgeable perspective. His gift for making others feel welcome and accepted was a testament to his kind heart. Ted's life was a beacon of warmth and compassion, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In celebrating Ted's remarkable life, we find comfort in the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
