Valerie “Val” Starkey

Val was preceded in death by her beloved parents Colleen and Franklin Starkey and her brother, Eric Douglass Starkey. She is survived by her husband and lifelong partner, Dean Nader; her brother, Rodney Starkey (Annette); her niece, Erica Starkey; her nephew, Michael Starkey; and a wide circle of friends who were family by choice.

A true enthusiast for life’s simple joys, Val found happiness in friends and family gatherings, pampering her cats, tending her garden, watching bluebirds raise their young, Wendy’s Frosty's, Miller Lite, horses, road trips (especially if there was a casino involved!), “retail therapy,” morning sunshine with a cup of coffee in hand, and cheering on the Buckeyes.

Val spent the majority of her professional career working in Information Technology Departments at Bank One of Columbus and Honda of America.

Her husband would like to give a special thank-you to the staff at Paramount Senior Living and Luminary Hospice who provided Val with wonderful, compassionate care.

A celebration of Val’s life will be arranged in the coming weeks; details will be shared with family and friends. In remembrance of Val, please feel free to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrier Program.
