Velta Leone Carte

Velta Leone Carte, 90, of Granville, passed away on February 28, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family. Leone was born in Tanner, West Virginia on March 3, 1935, to the late Edgar S. and Nina P. (Adams) Snider. She married Charles L. Carte on July 28, 1957, and he survives.

Along with her loving husband of almost 70 years, Leone is survived by children, Jeffrey Carte, Gregory Carte, Angela (Jeff) Morris, and Zachary Carte; grandchildren, Shawn, Jonathan (Tiffany), Rebecca (Dustin) Crabtree, Rachel Morris, and Emily (Michael) McKean; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Snider; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Snyder and Rosalee Snyder; and many other family members and friends.

Along with her parents, Leone is preceded in death by brothers, Ed Snyder, Joe Snyder, Gary (Joy) Snyder; half-sisters, Lucille Satterfield and Loretta Koehnlein; and half-brother, Art Snider.

Leone graduated high school in 1953 from Tanner High School. She was a dedicated Mom and wife, caring about home with the biggest heart. When she wasn’t working on the home, Leone loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Immediate family will greet friends and family from 11am to 1pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions – Northwest, 10051 Brewster Ln, Powell, OH 43065. A service to honor Leone’s life will be held at 1pm, March 5, 2026, at Newcomer – Northwest, Powell, Ohio. Burial to follow services at Sunset Cemetery.
