Victor J. Melaragno, a devoted family man, community servant, and beloved friend, passed away on July 6, 2026, at The Estates at Knightsbridge in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on December 4, 1937, in Columbus, and his life was a testament to his dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved and the causes he served.

Victor’s journey through life was marked by a strong work ethic and a spirit of generosity. After more than 35 years of service as a warehouse manager at Mars Manufacturing, Victor retired, only to embark on new ventures that reflected his industrious nature. He found fulfillment working at H&R Block for 25 years, helping countless individuals with their finances, and simultaneously enjoyed over a decade with Hollywood Casino, where he formed lasting friendships with colleagues and patrons alike.

His sense of duty extended beyond the workplace. Victor was a veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. His commitment to public service continued at home, where he spent more than ten years as a volunteer firefighter with Norwich Township Fire Station 81 in Hilliard, Ohio. As a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1360 in Ashland, he was actively involved in supporting his community and valued the bonds of brotherhood shared with fellow members.

Victor’s passions brought him much joy throughout his life. He enjoyed days spent golfing, cheering on drivers as an avid NASCAR fan, and the excitement of horse races at Scioto Downs. These pursuits were matched only by the love he felt for his family and friends; nothing brought him more happiness than their company and the memories they created together.

Victor is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Rodger) Morris and Torri (Phil) Aprile; his son, Louie Melaragno; his grandchildren, Stacy (Kevin) McCluer, Kelby (Brittany) Brinnon, Lauren (James) Lake, Jacob Melaragno, and Nick (Sam) Aprile; his great-grandchildren, Korbin McCluer, Bryson Lake, Aria Lake, and Lucas Aprile; his loving sister, Gilda Ferrari; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Melaragno; his mother, Maria (Appollonia) Melaragno; and his wife, Georgia (Williams) Melaragno; as well as several siblings. Victor’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched through his kindness, encouragement, and steadfast support.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Victor at the visitation, which will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.

Victor J. Melaragno’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His generous spirit, unwavering dedication, and profound love for his family will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of sharing in his remarkable life.
