Violet Mae Schirtzinger Elam, born July 13, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio, was called home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 95. She grew up in Columbus, where she graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1947. She was a resident of Country View Nursing Home in Sunbury, Ohio, where she had lived for the past few years.
She was preceded in death by her Loving Husband, Forest Gene Elam; her parents, Sarah Catherine Edgar and Samuel Elzworth Schirtzinger; her daughters, Sandra Kay Bilbrey and Kathy Ann Elam; her brothers, Roger, William, and Samuel; and her sister Jeannie.
She was survived by her children, Vickie Cornell, Daniel Elam, Peggy (Gary) Shotts, and Penny (Steve) McClary, 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Mother and Grand and great-grandmother. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved football, Ohio State, and the Cleveland Browns and Basketball and Baseball. She loved Playing cards and Music and Dancing. She will be deeply missed.
Calling hours are from 4-7 pm Tuesday, April 14, at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3047 E Dublin-Granville Rd, and services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, April 15. Followed by burial at St Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High St, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, parents, and baby daughter
