Virgil "Junior" Hawthorne, 79, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Virgil was born in Ashton, WV on August 4, 1935, to Virgil G. and Thelma (McCelasky) Hawthorne, and is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlena (Ross) Hawthorne and several siblings.
Survivors include his son, Greg Hawthorne; sister, Mary Bender; 7 grandchildren including a special grandson, Jimmie White; his caregiver, Annie Neubig; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, January 19, 2015, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with the Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Obetz Cemetery.
