With deep love and heavy hearts, we remember Virginia Ann “Ginnie” Nichols, who passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born September 7, 1938, in Middletown, Ohio, Ginnie’s long, beautiful life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and unwavering affection for her family and friends.

Virginia, lovingly known as “Ginnie” by those closest to her, was the cherished daughter of Marshall and Laverna Cash. She grew up surrounded by a large and lively family, building the foundation for what would become a legacy of togetherness and care that she carried throughout her life. The warmth of her upbringing never left her, and she honored her roots in every gathering, every recipe, and every story she lovingly retold.

Ginnie found enduring love and partnership with her late husband of 52 years, Jack "Jackie Boy" Nichols Sr., with whom she built a family whose bonds now span generations and with whom she is blissfully reunited with. She is survived by her devoted children, Lori Nichols, Julie Patterson, Jimmy Nichols, and Jack Nichols Jr. Her nurturing spirit lives on through her grandchildren: Tiffany Casto, Matthew Nichols, April Nichols, Austin Nichols, Taylor Nichols, Brittney Nichols, Brian Nichols, and Allison Nichols. The circle of her love widened with great-grandchildren: Kason Neuenschwander, Bentley Nichols, Anakin Nichols, Kyler Sharp, Ariella Nichols, Kayden Nichols, Ivy Nichols, Aubrey Nichols, and Talaya Nichols. Her beloved sister, Verna (Glenn) Flannery, survives her as well, a testament to the enduring bonds of family.

While Ginnie mourned the passing of her parents, Marshall and Laverna Cash; her dear husband, Jack; her brothers, Paul and Chic Cash; and her sisters, Marie Beer and Barbara Carpenter, her memory and stories of their lives continued as vital threads woven into the fabric of countless family gatherings.

Ginnie’s work ethic shone brightly for more than 25 years as a dedicated saleswoman at Big Lots. Her colleagues, many of whom became treasured friends, remember her for her warmth and joyful spirit. But it was with her family and friends that Ginnie’s true legacy flourished. Her home rang with laughter during holidays, birthdays, and spontaneous get-togethers. She was the heart of every celebration, the rock of the family, never missing anybody’s special day and ensuring every meal she prepared reflected her boundless love.

Ginnie delighted in life’s simple pleasures—time spent cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds, bird watching from her porch, and immersing herself in the engaging stories of daytime soap operas. Her passion for these treasured pastimes always sparked lively conversation and friendly debates, drawing in those around her.

Some of her happiest traditions were the monthly “Sister’s Meetings,” joyful occasions shared with her sisters and nieces, filled with stories, laughter, and the kind of connection only family can know. She treasured family vacations, especially to the Smokey Mountains and Myrtle Beach, adventures that created cherished memories for all who joined her.

Ginnie’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always remember her as their most steadfast supporter—never missing an opportunity to cheer them on, to encourage their dreams, or to lift their spirits in times of need. Her faith in those she loved was unshakeable, her pride unmistakable.

To all who knew her, Ginnie was a gracious presence—steady, loving, and endlessly giving. Her legacy is one of steadfast devotion, boundless kindness, and unforgettable warmth.
