Vonda Lee Oney

Vonda Lee Oney passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026 at her home in Grove City, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 25, 1942, in Floyd County, Kentucky, and later moved to Columbus, Ohio where she began her life as a devoted mother and wife.

Vonda was the daughter of the late Vernon and Love Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Oney, her sons, Dale and Kevin Oney; her brothers Daniel, Randall, Glenn, David, and Ralph Akers as well as a sister Lois.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Bill) McSchooler and Michelle Oney; her grandchildren Cameron (Liz) Oney, Brittany Conner, and Olivia Oney; and her beloved “grand puppies” Kobe, Kora, Koda and Rue, all of which she adored. She also leaves behind her best friend of 63 years, Georgeanna Hafer, and two very special Sister-in-Laws; Linda and Reba Akers.

Vonda was a hardworking, resilient, and deeply caring woman who dedicated her life to giving her children opportunities for a better future. She never forgot her roots and carried her Kentucky strength and humor with her throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, planting flowers and tending to her garden, listening to country music, playing Bingo, watching sports, and spending time with family. Her fighting spirit, generosity, and warmth will continue to live on in those who loved her.

Family and friends will gather to honor Vonda’s life at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, on Friday, May 22, 2026, with visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m., followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Sunset Cemetery, 6959 West Broad St., Galloway, Ohio 43119.
