Wayne Hopson

Wayne Hopson of Dublin, Ohio, born December 22, 1948, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in West Point, Illinois, and was a proud alumnus of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Upon graduating from the University of Illinois, Wayne immediately moved to Columbus, Ohio, to begin his illustrious and lifelong career with ABB. In retirement, he spent his time doing what he loved most — playing golf and cheering on his favorite Illini teams, especially basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Hopson (Sopp); daughter Angela (Chad) Lueders and her children, Colten and Chase Westerfield; son Brian (Kelly) Hopson and their children, Annabelle and Parker; son Michael Salamon; daughter Megan Cotanch; sister Jessie (Paul) Mealiff; brother Leland (Lysa) Hopson; and his beloved niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Duane and Ruth Hopson.

No services have been scheduled at this time. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
