Wayne Elliot Turk, 63, of Blacklick, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 2, 1962, in the Bronx, New York, and though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, service, and faith lives on in the countless lives he touched.
Wayne was a man with a true servant's heart. He embodied the role of protector, provider, and fierce defender of his family. A devoted husband, Pop, and Pop-Pop, Son, and Brother. Wayne's love knew no limits, and he would sacrifice anything for those he held dear. His quick wit and sharp sense of humor could light up any room, often leaving friends and family in stitches with his clever remarks and comebacks.
For over 22 years, Wayne faithfully served the Lord, passionately studying scripture and living out his faith in tangible, selfless ways. His heart for missions took him across the globe - to El Salvador, Haiti, and Romania - where he poured his strength, wisdom, and compassion into helping others. Many years, he made multiple trips, answering God's call without hesitation.
Wayne was also an avid reader and an endless source of trivia knowledge, regularly baffling his family during Jeopardy marathons. He was incredibly intelligent, with a mind full of history, facts, and wisdom, and loved sharing what he learned with others.
Throughout his life, Wayne worked in the construction industry as a mason, electrician, and surface maintenance technician. His fingerprints can be seen all over the city of Columbus, The Ohio State University, and surrounding areas in buildings and structures he helped create. He later served as a pharmacy technician in the compounding department, continuing to serve others through his work.
Wayne took his service in the Kingdom of God seriously and was always the first to volunteer when a need arose. Beneath his burly exterior was a tender heart of gold that everyone who knew him could see.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Reisman, and his brother-in-law, Bob Domaszowec.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, MaryLynn Turk; daughter Taylor (Ethan) Walker, son Brandon Anderson; grandchildren Love and Tobias; father Samuel (Angela) Turk; sisters Cindy Phillips, Tracy Domaszowec, and Emily Turk; brothers Marc (Ilana)Turk and Garrett Turk; and many other cherished family members and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Life Church at Easton, 5000 Sunbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43230.
Wayne's favorite scripture, John 15:13 - 'There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends' - was not just a verse to him, but a way of life. He lived it daily, pouring himself out for others with courage, humor, wisdom, and immeasurable love.
He leaves behind a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew him, on the city he helped build, and on the mission fields he faithfully served. His life was a testimony of grace, strength, humor, and unwavering faith.
"In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Wayne's passion for missions, the family asks that donations be made to the Life Church At Easton's mission fund. This will reflect the heart and legacy he lived every day. Contributions can be made at this link:
