Wayne L. Walls (KA8CEJ), 74, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Kobacker House.
He was born July 25, 1941 in Lucasville, son of the late Marion and Mary Porter Walls.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Walls.
He grew up in Lucasville.
Wayne moved to Columbus after high school graduation to work at Westinghouse.
He was employed by Columbus Coated Fabrics for 35 years until it was closed then he retired from Pactiv.
He was a very active member of Central Ohio Amatuer Radio Emergency Service since 1979 furnishing radio communications for public events, including the Race for the Cure, the Columbus Marathon, Tour of the Scioto River Valley, Alladin Shrine Circus, Arnold Classic and charity events.
Wayne's hobbies included constructing and flying radio controlled airplanes, bicycling and he was an avid reader of history and nonfiction.
Wayne especially enjoyed motorcycle trips with lifelong friends, Roger and Nancy Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (Burns Newberry) Walls; son, Richard Walls; stepchildren, Lynda (Mike) Cramer, Forrest (Diane) Newberry, Dianna (Jim) Grunkemeyer; granddaughters, Sarah Cramer and Rhiannon Newberry; great grandchild, Braylen Cramer.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Blendon Central Cemetery.
