Willard C. Salyer

Willard C. Salyer, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born in Johnson County, KY on May 23, 1927 to the late Irvin and Zelda.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Willard was a master carpenter, woodworker and builder. As a young man Willard proudly served his country during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 254. He was a long time member First Southern Baptist Church of Johnstown, OH.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Okadel Clancy, Odessa Glover, Lorena Ball, Bertell Salyer, Cornell Salyer and Chadwick Salyer.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lorana "Ann"; children, Bessie (Kevin) Harper, Steve (Roy Lewis) Salyer; grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Harper and Anna (Andrew) Harper-Hess; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Penelope Harper, Amelia and Adelaide Hess; sisters, Florence Shinkle and Galena Phillips; special nephew, Roger Bearss.
The family will receive friends from 4-6pm, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, N.E., 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 310 W. Jersey, Johnstown, OH 43031. Pastor Mike Rector officiating.
Interment at Greenhill Cemetery.
