William "Bill" Roberts, 79, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on July 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on December 27, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and a passion for learning.
Bill's greatest pride and joy was his family. He shared 56 wonderful years with Cathy, his beloved wife and the love of his life. Together they built a legacy of love and support that extended to their sons Greg (Heather) and Scott; their grandchildren Kailey (Ryan), Emma, Kyle (Kirsten), Kendyl (Simon), and TJ (Jenna); and their great-grandchildren Everett and Toby. He also survived by his sister Mica Dulle (Jim), his brother Steve, his nieces and nephews and his brothers and sisters in-law. Bill cherished every moment spent with them and delighted in celebrating their successes.
He was a graduate of Withrow High School in Cincinnati. After high school, Bill attended Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas, where he earned his bachelor's degree in theology. This is also where he met Cathy. They were married the day after graduation and from there began their adventure together.
His foundation of faith and learning shaped the course of his life and career. Bill began his professional life as a minister, leading congregations in Louisville, Kentucky, and Kingsport, Tennessee. His dedication to serving others was evident in his ministerial work and remained a cornerstone of his life.
After his time as a minister, Bill transitioned into the insurance industry. He enjoyed a successful career with Western Reserve Lightning Rod before retiring.
A man of deep faith and student of the Bible, Bill studied scripture daily and shared his knowledge through leading local Bible studies alongside Cathy for many years. His theological background enriched these gatherings as he inspired others with his insights and unwavering belief.
Bill also had a passion for genealogy. He loved uncovering new family connections or historical facts that brought the past to life. This reflected his deep appreciation for heritage and history—a passion that resonated throughout life.
Bill enjoyed simple pleasures like savoring a good bourbon or two—or even an okay one—and sharing stories with loved ones. His warmth, humor, and zest for life left a mark on everyone who knew him.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Aileen Roberts, as well as by his Uncle Bill Peyton. While their loss was deeply felt during his lifetime, their memory remained close to his heart.
As those who knew him reflect on Bill's remarkable journey through life—a journey marked by faithfulness to God, devotion to family, intellectual curiosity, and an enduring sense of humor—they are comforted by the legacy he leaves behind.
