William Everett Brewer, fondly known as Bill, was born on September 14, 1937, in the small town of Harmony, Ohio. From his earliest days, Bill’s life was defined by warmth, humor, and an unmistakable zest for living fully—a spirit that left indelible marks on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. On June 25, 2026, Bill departed this world in Columbus, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy stitched together by love, laughter, resilience, and boundless generosity.

Growing up in rural Ohio, Bill’s beginnings were as humble as they were memorable. Among the many stories he loved to recount, few were told with more gusto and pride than the chapter spent living in a chicken coop—a testament to his sense of adventure and ability to find humor and joy even in life’s simplest circumstances. This foundational optimism shaped every facet of Bill’s journey.

He graduated from Rutland High School in Rutland, Ohio, a milestone that opened doors to new landscapes and opportunities. On May 28, 1960, he married Bert there in Rutland, after being told to find a good wife in church. Not long after, Bill answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy. Between 1960 and 1964, he served as a radar operator on the USS Constellation, navigating the vast oceans and stepping onto distant shores. Bill spoke often and fondly of these years, carrying with him lifelong friendships and a steadfast pride for having served.

Upon returning home, Bill embraced new chapters with characteristic diligence. He built a meaningful career at Mars Petcare (formerly Kal Kan), from which he retired in 1993, a testament to years of dedication, camaraderie, and unwavering work ethic. Retirement, however, did not slow Bill down. He also channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into W.E.B Home Improvements, where, true to his nature, the lines between customer and friend quickly blurred—his warmth turning business transactions into enduring relationships.

But Bill’s story is as much about the laughter-filled moments as it is about work and service. He was, without question, a jokester who delighted in weaving humor into ordinary days. Stories and jokes poured from him effortlessly, brightening countless gatherings and connecting generations. His enthusiasm for Big Time Wrestling, wood working, and the energetic pursuit of games—Bingo, Poker, Dominoes, and especially Euchre—became legendary among family and friends alike. Travel with Bert was also an integral part of Bill’s tapestry, guiding him from the beaches of Hawaii and Florida to the lights of Las Vegas. Cruises around the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the dazzling glaciers of Alaska, and even the wonders down under in Australia spoke to his insatiable curiosity and love of discovery.

Above all, Bill’s proudest accomplishments were rooted in the bonds he nurtured and the lives he touched. He was a devoted father to his daughter Tammy Griffith, and sons Scott and Tony Brewer, who share his birthday. His steadfast support and affection shaped their lives immeasurably, and his spirit will live on in their memories and stories. Bill’s circle of love extended further, embracing his sisters Dorothy Janie and Martha Wess, as well as his sister-in-law Carol Fagan and brother-in-law Don Wess. The family tapestry is further woven with those by marriage and deep friendship: Mike Griffith, Rita Brewer, Robin Brewer, and John Wess.

As Bill sails beyond this world, he reunites with cherished loved ones who preceded him in passing: his beloved wife Alberta "Bert" Hawkins of 54 years; his parents Truman Brewer and Margaret Scott; his siblings Rosie, Tom, Walter, Mary, Stewart, and Maude; and his sister-in-law Shirley. Though their voices are now echoes, their presence remains vivid in the hearts of those left behind.

William Everett Brewer, your life has been a gift. Thank you for your humor, your kindness, your helping hands, and your steadfast devotion to the family and friends you cherished above all else. Your journey stands as a reminder of how much one heart can give and how deeply those gifts can echo through generations.
