William "Bill" Sweetman

William "Bill" Sweetman, 76 of Columbus, passed away from a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital on February 2, 2014. Born on February 1, 1938 to the late Bill and Mary Catherine Sweetman in Columbus, OH. Preceded in death children Timothy Patrick, Thomas Patrick, Kathleen Marie Sweetman and son-in-law Brad Collins. Survived by wife of 55 years, Barbara Jo Sweetman, daughters Terry Ann Collins, Susan (Dave) Davis and Patty Errett, grandchildren Gary (Erinn) Crowe, Jr., Niki (Zach) Frank, Christy and Chad (Melissa) Davis, Alley (Adam Pancher) Saldana, Tony (Brandi) Cunningham, Trisha (Charles) Headrick, Brandi Collins, Jeffrey, Patrick, Jenna and Paul Errett, great grandchildren Adri, Madison, Morgan, Zoey, Conner, Tyson, Lola, Celsey, Arlo, Landon, Terrell, Owen and Aiden, siblings Mary Ellen (Jay) Shomber and Bob (Mary Ellen) Sweetman, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Bill retired as a Division Plant Supervisor of the Springfield Columbia Gas after 32 years. A 1956 graduate of Aquinas High School; a proud member of the US Air Force and Knights of Columbus 2898. Bill loved Notre Dame Football, fishing at the lake, being a DJ (his hobby that went crazy) and most of all his family. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Rebecca Davis, nurse/social worker, of OSU Neurology Department and the entire hospice team on 3 tower at Mt. Carmel West.

Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 4 to 8pm.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen's the Martyr Catholic Church, 4131 Clime Rd., Columbus, OH at 10am on Thursday, February 6, 2014 with Father Saul Garcia officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
