Deacon Willie Plas Sanders
Our beloved Husband, father, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His heavenly Father opened His arms and took him home to eternal rest on June 4, 2020.
Deacon Willie Plas Sanders was born on September 23, 1950 and was raised in Troy, Alabama, Greensboro, Florida and then moved to Columbus, Ohio, with his next move to Urbancrest, Ohio where he last resided. Willie was the 4th child born of 9 from this blessed union of Plas and Irene Sanders.
Deacon Willie P. Sanders attended Mohawk High School. He worked at Buckeye Steel for 13 years, he then worked 30 years and retired as a semi-truck driver for the Yellow Freight Company.
Deacon Willie Sanders held an elected Official position in the village of Urbancrest as a Board of Public Affairs Trustee, monitoring the sewer and water. He was recently awarded for his due diligence, commitment and expertise given to his community.
Deacon Willie loved doing for others, and helping out in his community, that was his passion, he had a caring nature. He was a member of True Vine Church of Apostolic Faith as an ordained Deacon, his brother Elder Jerry C. Sanders Founded the church and Pastored there for many years until his passing. True Vine years later proceeded under the leadership of Pastor Belinda Sullens.
Deacon Willie also enjoyed family gatherings at any time, not just on holidays, but any day. He always shared and tried to attend to his families every need and sometimes friends too.
Deacon Willie P. Sanders is preceded in death by his Beloved Parents; Plas and Irene Sanders, Grandparents; Raymond and Ella Sanders, Brother; Jerry C. (Jeanette) Sanders, Sister; Catherine Coleman and Brother-in-law; Deacon Ferrel Lindsey Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Loving Wife; Annie Pearl Sanders; sons; Willie (Lee) Sanders Jr., and Weymouth (Jane) Sanders. Daughters; Andrea Rivers, and Auja Sanders. Nine Grandchildren; Ka'Teeb (Desire) Rivers, Ka'Maya Rivers, Carita Sanders, Ciera Sanders, Cedric Sanders, Onyinyechi, Weymouth Chinedu, Ijeoma, and Chidera. Four Great-Grandchildren; Ka'Leigha Rivers, Kalila Rivers, King Rivers, and Sirena Brea. Brother; Terry (Eunice) Pressley. Sisters; Bernice Lindsey, Mary (Ronnie) Smith, Minnie Mae (Micheael) Kahassi, Barbara (Devron) Head, and Shavonne Sanders and Brothers-in-laws; Willie Coleman, Timothy (Liz) Dewberry, Bobbie (Nicole) Dewberry, and David Presley. Sister-in-law; Margaret Powell. A host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and many, many friends.
He was known to all the children in the family as "Uncle Will" and he always kept them laughing. Deacon Willie P. Sanders will be sadly missed and always remembered by all who truly loved him. Deacon Will was a precious gift from God to his family, he had a loving and caring spirit. Family, he touched hearts in so many ways, and his smile was so bright even on his tired days. He heard God calling him home, he didn't want to go and leave you alone, he loved you so much, he held on tight until all his strength was gone and he could no longer fight, so he gave his hand to God and slowly drifted away. God does all things well.
